Environmental Monitoring
For the Food & Beverage Industry
Environmental Monitoring has become a key means of ensuring food safety in the food and beverage manufacturing industry.
AEMTEK can help your company align with FSMA requirements and validate your sanitation process by testing environmental samples from your production environment, or by helping develop an environmental monitoring plan (EMP).
Why do I need an Environmental Monitoring Plan?
Foodborne pathogens, that have avoided eradication during sanitation procedures, can remain present on equipment and inside production facilities. These pathogens can make their way into products, causing contamination. FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires food processing facilities to mitigate this risk, by instituting an environmental monitoring program. This program can include monitoring of the production environment through pathogen and bacterial swabbing, allergen swabbing, and air analysis.
Our experts will work with you directly to assist in developing a proper sampling plan or review your existing one.
We will start by visiting your facility to get a complete picture of your process and manufacturing environment. Our team will then identify related risk factors and work with your quality department to develop a proper sampling plan to monitor these risks.
Already have a sampling plan? AEMTEK is happy to review existing plans for efficiency and compliance with FSMA requirements.

If you perform both Salmonella and Listeria testing on environmental samples, you can receive a faster turnaround time and lower cost by utilizing our fully-validated Dual PCR Pathogen Analysis and Split Sampler Sponge!

SAVE MONEY |
The time-saving Split Sampler Sponge comes with a dual-sponge head, which enables the collection of two identical samples from a single swabbing event. After collection, the sponges can be broken apart before shipping to the laboratory, where they will be enriched separately for analysis.
After enrichment, the samples from both sponge bags are combined into a single “well” for analysis of both Salmonella and Listeria mono. in our PCR. This Dual PCR method provides a faster* turnaround time, while the utilization of a single “well” for both pathogen assays saves you money!
